Details:
Last night's rising Sturgeon Moon was accompanied by clouds and showers. When conditions finally improved at around midnight, I was greeted by a sight that seemed odd - the halo around the Moon wasn't the circle I'm accustomed to seeing but an oval. A quick investigation led me to understand that oval-shaped halos are formed by ice crystals with sloped edges (e.g. pyramidal shaped) in the upper atmosphere and is a relatively rare occurrence. Whatever the cause, it was awesome to see.
