Asteroid 2067 Aksnes (1936 DD) is named in honor of the Norwegian astronomer Kaare Aksnes ( 2. picture )
who worked at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in the United States in the 1970s and
later at the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics in Oslo Norway
In 1981 he got the NASA Group Achievement Award
for his contribution to orbital calculations for the Voyager project.
And he contributed significantly to the calculations of the complex trajectory of the Rosetta space probe,
which after ten years as a "cosmic billiard ball" in our solar system reached and landed on comet
67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on November 12, 2014.

The Asteroid was discovered on 23th February 1936 by Y. Väisälä ( 3. picture ) at the Turku Observatory or Iso-Heikkilä Observatory
in the very south of Finland.
