Details:
I am an amateur astrophotographer from Ragusa (Sicily-Italy).
After viewing ALL the footage of the July full moon setting over Ragusa at dawn on July 10, 2025, analyzing the individual frames, I noticed that I captured the rare phenomenon of “BLUE FLASH” on the moon in an obvious way.
Through dear friend Marco Meniero, an expert on optical phenomena and author of the handbook "LIGHT AND COLOR OF THE SKY," the opinion of Andrew T. Young, professor of physics at the University of San Diego, among the world's leading experts on "green flash," was sought.
Here is his response, which confirms our assessments:
"It's a nice picture, all right. It's unusual to see pictures of the Moon that show GF (Green Flas) phenomena, and to catch the blue is even more unusual. The photographer was lucky to catch this, as the blue flash is very faint -- see how overexposed the Moon is! -- and fleeting."
I therefore send a collage of three images, with enlarged details and a single photo with the “Blue Flash” more evident.
The technical data are the same for all three shots:
