On July 3rd Mercury was at its greatest eastern elongation from the Sun and passing the Beehive cluster (M44).

X Cnc is a semiregular Mira-like variable that varies between magnitude 5.5 and 7.5 with a period of 193 days and has a color index of +3.21.
