Details:
Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann is becoming difficult to observe from the Northern Hemisphere due to its low altitude above the horizon at dusk, so I have resorted to imaging it using a remote telescope located in Siding Spring, Australia, where it still remains at a moderate elevation. The image reveals how the coma resulting from the May outburst has expanded, reaching an angular diameter of 2.5 arcminutes, while the larger envelope of material from earlier activity has almost completely dissipated. Overall, the comet has faded to magnitude 12.5; nevertheless, the internal morphological structures of the coma remain prominent. Planewave 17" CDK f/6.8, ZWO ASI6200MM, Exp=19 min, FOV=27x21'(crop), N:Up E:Left. SSO, NSW (Australia)
