Details:
Comparison of the sun 14 min before the flare (21:30 UT) and at max (21:49 UT). I darkened the "before" image so it would match the exposure of the "after" image. This gives a sense of how bright the flare really was. For the whole-disk image I simply overlaid the smaller section containing the flare on the 21:30 image. I didn't want to stop my high-cadence imaging of the flare to take an image of the whole disk. (So it is not a true comparison of the whole sun at 21:30 and 21:49.) Lunt LS80MT double stack, ASI178MM, Autostakkert, Registax, Photoshop, Pattern Suppressor 2.7 (to reduce linear pattern noise in the 178MM sensor). Flare image: Best 150 of 2000 frames at 4ms from 21:48:41 to 21:48:51 UT. Manually removed some artifacts from brightest parts of the flare due to Registax processing. Will put together a full time lapse in the coming days.
