Details:
This image of the sun obtained in the H-alpha emission line on Saturday, December 14, shows an active region near the solar limb with a huge bridge-shaped prominence. The chromosphere layer can be seen at the edge of the solar disk as a thin reddish band from which different prominences emerge. The Earth has been included as a size reference. The image was obtained with a Lunt 152 solar telescope coupled with a conventional Sony A7R3 camera, from the small village of Sant Llorenç de la Muga (Girona, Spain), just a few kilometers from the French border. Different exposures were made to capture the solar disk in detail (1/25 s) and the protuberances, which are weaker (1/3 s). The photos were then combined with a computer to obtain the final image.
