Details:
During the major geomagnetic storm on the night of May 10–11, I photographed these auroras with my iPhone 15 Pro from the banks of the Danube River near Ingolstadt in southern Germany. The display lasted for several hours and included vivid green, pink, and purple colors—along with rare bluish tones, possibly caused by N₂⁺ emissions.
One image shows dynamic ray-like structures that resemble STEVE or subauroral arcs. Some of the light beams appeared to move rapidly across the sky in a matter of seconds. The clear weather and reflections on the water made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
