Ok as a photographer sky watcher since 10 you never want a cloudy night. Where we lived in Interlochen Mi. USA you could cut the darkness with a knife. Getting older we decided to move closer to family meaning goodby totally dark skies. I saw say 5 months before a pic on spaceweather of northern lights behind clouds I said all the northern lights I've seen when its cloudy I don't go out. So, I said my goal is to shoot the lights behind clouds then we decided to move and that took care of that. Were packed and leaving on the early morning of the 11th. The night before the huge display was going on I said to my wife in bed I'm going outside to see something she said but were leaving tomorrow get some sleep. So, I go out and WOW it was beautiful wish I had my fisheye lens, but it was packed. What's the odds got the view and picture the last night of total darkness before we left and its hanging on our wall at the new place to see EVERYDAY. Really cool. ps. what's really great where we now live, we see the big displays only right outside of our house. Second picture.
