Details:
On order from SkyWatcher for six months, North Point Scientific finally delivered my new 76mm HelioStar (featured at NEAF) Monday, and fellow solar observer Marc Glover (Lunt 80) joined me with first sun viewing Monday, May 5th. Also had a chance to use it with new NEEWER LS-T22 video eyepiece, and include a prom shot with it as well. With .5A band pass, it gave the best contrast views of the Ha either had every seen visually or photographed. First shot is Marc with Heliostar; it is light enought to use on the same Celestron mount as my older LS-60, He is using the new video eyepiece to take the final prom shot. Full disk with Heliostar, 15mm Plossl, provided smartphone adapter (well designed), and iPhone 12s. AR 4079 is big flaring shot on middle. Third shot is zoomiing in on the big prom on the NE limb Monday with my iPhone 12s. Last shot is fine detail Marc got using the NEEWER LS-T22. He commented this one would have been better captured in video than photo mode. Lot of promise in both these new technologies! PS: Par for the course, it has been cloudy ever since that afternoon, and will say so through next week. But at least, it did not bring 10" of SNOW to Pensacola, as did my See Star S 30 earlier this year....
