Details:
I have seen 22 degree circular Solar Halo's before but was mystified by this. This display was oval in shape with rainbow arcs above and below the Sun. I thought it was lens distortion after taking the image but it was definitely oval. It may have been caused by a number of con trails in the sky at the time. I took the first image with a Canon 1100D and Tokina 11-16mm. The second with Canon 6D and Samyang 14mm.
