Details:
About a week ago a potential new comet was discovered in a SOHO image and was brought to the attention of the astronomy community in Maik Meyer's Comet Mailing List where a group of amateur astronomers worked to get enough data from images to generate ephemeris for the new comet. The comet has initially been referred to as Comet SWAN25F. Comet SWAN25F on the morning of 2025 April 3 was magnitude 10.6, had a coma of 2' and a tail that extended about 1/2 degree at a position angle of 299 degrees. This image is a stack of six 18x10 second images that attempts to show the 1/2 degree long comet tail despite the low altitude and morning twilight.
