Details:
The sundogs, or 'parhelia," were very bright on either side of the Sun, on a fainter 22º halo. Passing through the sundogs and Sun and parallel to the horizon is a horizontal arc called the "parhelic circle." At the top of the 22º halo is a coloured and concave "upper tangent arc," and possibly a faint and convex "Parry arc." At top is a very colourful "circumzenithal arc." It is tangent to a large outer halo which is likely a "supralateral arc," but it can blend with an outer 46º halo. This extent of the display lasted only 30 minutes or so before thicker clouds moved in. The Sun's altitude was 15º at this time, at 9:00 am MDT. The field of view is about 130º wide. Technical: A single metered handheld exposure with the Laowa 10mm lens on the Nikon Z6III at ISO 100. Contrast enhanced with Nik Color EFX Tonal Contrast filter.
