Details:
The Comet was clearly visible to the naked eye as a silvery smudge near the horizon, large enough that it required your outstretched hand to block it out. Comet C/2024 G3 ATLAS became visible around 40 minutes after sunset and remained in the sky for another 50 minutes or so before setting. More detail appeared as the comet lingered near the horizon, with even the fork in the tail being seen with the unaided eye. Well worth the three consecutive attempts to drive up to the mountains in an attempt to image this (presumed) now-doomed "Ghost Comet". ... / ... This is an unstacked, single 6-Second exposure with the Canon EOS Ra camera and a Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM lens. Taken at 85mm with ISO 1600 with f/1.6.
