Details:
The late afternoon sky was cloudy with a few holes in the clouds. An hour of patiently waiting for an opening to image C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) occurred at 5:30 PM MST with the comet 10 degrees above the horizon and the Sun 2 degrees above the horizon. Surprisingly, using a ASI178MC camera attached to a 50mm finderscope a 4ms image captured the comet in this daylight opening in the clouds. One can only conclude that the comet is still very bright. An image composed of 27x4ms images did not show the comet as well with thin clouds moving thru that part of the image where the comet was located. There were no more openings in the clouds before the comet set for the evening. The comet tail disappeared into the clouds in the images.
