Details:
This is what comet C/2024G3 looks like through a telescope in broad daylight after yesterday's perihelion.
I observed it for about 90 minutes and imaged just before noon from Rome with a 12" dobson at 76 magnifications.
It is my first view of a comet in broad daylight. Before dawn I aimed the telescope at the exact spot where the comet would pass by at 10:30 a.m., and thanks to the clear sky and the shadow of the nearby building, I had it directly in the eyepiece at that hour as I had hoped.
Visually the faux nucleus was clearly visible, slightly oval, bright, but definitely less bright than Venus ( in daylight ).
The first part of the tail was also clearly visible, short and dense in the area near the nucleus and then immediately more evanescent. This slice also appeared to be slightly offset from the axis of the entire tail, but I am not sure. Moving the telescope made out the most evanescent part of the tail, from about 20' in length.
I tried a few times to look for it with 20x80 binoculars and Nikon zoom lens, but nothing was visible, although I do not exclude that with more patience something could be obtained.
Today afternoon I observed it in the 20x80 binoculars just after sunset. And it was quite similar to the above, although the bright part seemed more pronounced while the rest of the tail was less obvious.
