Details:
I saw a bizarre aurora drift over Southcentral Alaska’s skies around 4 am this Friday morning, November 22, 2024. It came up from the northwest and I was like, whoa! It looked like the letter E to me. Within just a few minutes it sailed overhead on its back and looked like some critter with its legs in the air then moved southeast into the moon. Having spun 180° with my camera, the shape didn’t change much, it was a calm aurora, but the new perspective now made the E look like a 3, among other things I suppose. Curious as all get out! On a magnetic note, those several hours of predominantly negative B sub z sure did the trick!
