Details:
After a frustrating outing to Floyd Bennett Field to locate and photograph the comet, with no success, I decided to give it another try using the Miller Observatory. It was an overcast beginning of the evening, but at 7:00pm the clouds began to dissipate. At 7:17pm comet ATLAS popped out of the clouds, and there it was, in all its glory! The comet possessed a striking tail and pronounced head. A magnificent sight! The comet was in view until 7:51pm when it set below a building. Details: Canon 90D EOS camera, Canon 100-400mm telephoto lens set at 100mm, ISO 400 and 800 (400 for out of the clouds photo), f=5.6, 4.0 sec. exposure, Gitzo tripod, remote shutter release.
