Details:
A cold front following Hurricanes Helene and Milton at our observatory provided very transparent skies to study Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). And to find this comet with a gorgeous anti-tail in the same field as previously-glorious Comet 13P/Olbers was a real treat! Like a scene out of Star Wars, nearby Comet C/2023 A3 appeared to defend itself by using a lightsaber weapon (anti-tail) against distant Comet 13P/Olbers 250 million miles away. A line-of-sight TheSky 6 solar system chart is attached. Also in the same field on Oct. 15, 2024 was Serpens globular cluster M5! Quite a challenge considering low altitude, speedy comet and brilliant gibbous Moon.
