I'm well-rounded with my Aurora knowledge, but this one has me scratching my head. Has anybody ever seen a SAR arc that is this color? I've photographed quite a few of them in the past, but they are always a reddish-magenta color. This one has a mixture of colors including green/orange/yellow that seemed to pulsate at times. I'm told this might be "RAGDA." This was facing directly to the east, away from the main aurora action. Here's where it gets more perplexing. SAR arcs typically last all night, sometimes days, depending on how strong the storm is. This feature was there for less than an hour. It did not move during that time. It stayed steady in the sky and looked just like this. After about an hour, it faded away and it was gone. This photo is color-accurate. You can even see the blueish tint of the sky at the bottom right where the sky was free of aurora action.
