Details:
I had initially planned to head up into the darker skies of the local mountains or deserts to photograph this strong geomagnetic storm but instead ended up deciding to see if I could record the aurora through some of the worst light pollution on Earth, the Los Angeles and Orange Country region of Southern California. Even under the Bortle 8/9 skies the aurora was faintly visible to my eyes and the camera recorded its pinks and reds! Canon EOS 6D Mark II, Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 lens, ISO 1600, 2 second exposure.
