When the Stars Align: October 7th-8th, 2024 This photograph was captured last night, high in the mountains of Southern Colorado, during a scouting trip for potential workshop locations. Initially, we had planned for an early evening dedicated to photographing moonset. However, the bustling campground presented challenges, with car lights and headlamps obstructing our view. We noticed that the mountains were bathed in a reddish hue, our first assumption was that this glow stemmed from brake lights. However, we soon realized that the aurora borealis behind us was responsible for the stunning illumination. We quickly repositioned ourselves and began capturing the breathtaking display of vibrant pink and red tones, along with striking spires of light that were visible to the naked eye. This was truly an unforgettable experience!
