Details:
While stargazing near Eastend, Saskatchewan, we noticed a glowing ellipse with a bright central core drifting across the sky from the border between Perseus, Camelopardalis, and Auriga toward the northern horizon. We communicated our observation with Alan Dyer, who had also seen this object from the Southern Alberta Star Party at Cypress Hills. Alan Dyer subsequently learned from Jonathon McDowell that "This was the deorbit burn of the VUM stage from the Arianespace Vega VV24 launch.” The photograph is a composite of four, five-second exposures showing the movement of the spacecraft against the background stars.
