Details:
I started receiving aurora alerts on my phone around 1 AM on Aug 12. Kp was 7 and aurora oval extent was down to OK at the time I believe. I took this picture with a Nikon D7500 F4.5/ISO 3200/6 sec exposure with remote trigger on 2 sec delay. Glow near horizon is light pollution reflecting off high cirrus over DFW area I believe. Red/pink glow at upper left is the aurora. I used GIMP software on PC to post-process since it was so faint. I am a novice at photography so I hope this was not some kind of artifact. I took a series of pictures and the red glow faded away over a 15 minutes period. This also corresponded to a drop to Kp 6. Without the camera this was totally invisible to the naked eye. I have never seen an aurora before so I was beyond excited to maybe have caught a glimpse of one.
