Details:
Gentle wisps of aurora emerged for a few minutes each around 1AM Mountain time. Captured over a small pond called Rat Lake (for muskrat) near downtown Yellowknife, on Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories. It was a pleasant warm night with only a few mosquitos. It was first photo-graphable display since mid-April, as our endless summer days give way to autumn dark. This view is looking northeast, including the twilite glow of the near-horizon sun. Canon 5D MkIV, sigma 14 mm, f3.5, 4 seconds, ISO 3200
