Details:
The full moon rose on the evening of July 20th. The full moon in July is also called the “Hay Moon” because the hay harvest takes place in July. When sunlight passes through our atmosphere, it is scattered by air molecules and dust particles. The greater the layer thickness of the atmosphere that a sun or moon ray has to travel through, the greater the red component of the color. This is why the sun and moon often appear reddish on the horizon when they rise and set.
