Details:
The First Quarter Moon was especially striking this evening with the blue supergiant, springtime star Spica nearby. At 11:25EDT here in Southeastern Pennsylvania Spica's light abruptly turned off as Luna passed directly in front of this luminary. Unfortunately, the Moon will be below the horizon at the time Spica reappears. This image was recorded about 3 minutes prior to the event.
