Details:
Active Region AR3712 showed an abrupt flare at about 10.45 UTC this morning. It exploded in just a few seconds to giant proportions much bigger than earth! Although it was probably an M1.5 flare, it looked really big in my solar telescope! I observed the region on and off during some 2 hours and made this very short video from a few exposures. Note the rapid movement of the filaments created during the outburst.
115mm APO, Baader ERF, Quark Chromosphere H-alpha filter, AZI183MM. Registax6.
