The most fantastic display I've ever witnessed.
At sunset, the display was already visible, but for two hours it remained a constant shade of grey-green. There was a visible corona overhead, but that too was rather monochrome. We were about to wrap up for the evening when the sky erupted in vivid colors, clearly visible to the naked eye. Beams were radiating from the corona at this stage, and the sky in all directions were full of reds, pinks, greens, and purples pulsing from east to west. The display was bright enough that everyone could see each other and our surroundings clearly. After 20 minutes, this subsided, leaving hues of red all around us. We finally decided to head home, but even when we arrived at our house in Spokane, the lights were still going strong overhead. What a night!
