Details:
The sun was observed and imaged May 13, 2024 between 15:40 UT and 16:40 UT. The seeing was average with passing clouds. AR #13664 will mark down in history one of the most interesting group with many events since the start of the century. Also, it was rival with the Carrington event (in 1859) with similar size and the number of spots. Not only that, but it also produced the most intense geomagnetic storm that caused the aurora in all states and most of the world. Today, it is still active with subflares and many spray prominences and surges that were seen shot upward from the earlier flares. Once it goes off the limb on Tuesday, still many spray prominences may be seen right along the edge or even beyond that. It will return by the end of this month on the eastern limb If it still holds together.
