Details:
What a cracking display, which covered most of the sky, with the brightest structures mainly to the south. This was easily the best display I've seen since the big aurora storms back in the autumn of 2003, with reds and green clearly visible to the naked eye for much of the (short) night. These shots were taken at the Maiden Stone, an ancient Pictish stone that dates back to some time around 700 AD. It made a perfect focal point and foreground to the aurora corona. The first shot was taken at 2256, with the others around 2302 UTC.
