Details:
As an astrophysics undergrad, seeing the aurora has been on my bucket list for many years. But being in Massachusetts has made that hard. My dad signed me up for the Solar activity texts for my birthday last year and I was able to track when the most probable days of seeing them were. I was so excited to finally see the auroras here in Massachusetts. The predominant colors were strong red and purple, but a lot of green when it started to fade away to the west. You can see the individual beams instead of a faint cloud which made it even more special for such low latitude. While I was waiting for the lights to show up for tonight, an X5.8 flare text alert showed up on my phone, excited to see if that brings even stronger lights to our area within the next days.
