Details:
On the night if April 9 (morning if April 10 at 2:14 a.m.), I saw a bright red blob drift down from left of Antares near the star 30 Boo B towards the star Zubeneschamali. It stopped 1/3 of the way between those two stars (closer to 30 Boo B) and then quickly appeared to dim below naked eye visibility. I quickly took an image with my Google Pixel 6a phone in night mode (details attached below) which showed it very much as it had looked with the naked eye. By this time it was no longer visible to the naked eye but was still visible to the phone using a long exposure. I used the default google camera app and a 4 min exposure (composed of shorter invididual exposures and stacked by the phone automatically).
Location details:
Near Big Bend National park, Texas, US at North 29 deg 21min and West 103 deg 31.6min
Time:
I initially saw the object around 2:14 a.m. I started imaging at 2:15 a.m.
Sky conditions:
Transparency was excellent with stars visible all the way down to the horizon. Seeing was good as even the bright stars near the horizon were barely twinkling. The sky was perfectly clear with no clouds anywhere. The only light glow was in the South East direction and was barely visible to my dark adapted eyes. It only came up less than 2 degrees above the horizon. There was no sign of Aurora activity anywhere in the sky.
Image details:
I have attached the untouched jpeg (I also have the original DNG raw image but am not able to upload it here for some reason and the timelapse didn't upload either). No editing or processing was done at all and these are being attached straight from the camera. The timelapse attached is compressed from about 2 minutes of footage time and shows the blob dim over that time. It was already below naked eye visibility when the timelapse started.
Equipment used:
Google Pixel 6a phone in night mode on a stationary tripod.
