My discovery of Supernova 1999cb in the galaxy Markarian 881.
The supernova is at mag.16.1 and 15" SW of the galaxy.
Date : 4. April 1999 Time : 02:42 Exp.time 100 sec.
ST-4 CCD and 0.61m f/2.2 telescope.
Nice weather, no wind. Telescope was tracking optimal.
Odd Trondal Obs.code 238 (Uranium). Oslo Norway.
2. Picture taken by Ragnvald Irgens and Henning Holen using the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT), a 2.56m telescope at La Palma, Canarias Islands.
Image processing by HÃ¥kon Dahle
The galaxy has a red shift of Z = 0.02881 ( Radial Velocity = 8637 km/s ),
it is probably a Type Ia supernova with peak magnitude 15.7
Using Hubble constant Ho = 72(km/s) / Mpc we get a
distance = V / Ho Mpc = V / Ho * 3.2616*10^6 l.y. = 8637 / 72 * 3.2616*10^6 = 390 millions light years.

Later I discovered 2 novae in M 31 & M 33 + 3 more supernovae.
My favorite is the "gold supernova" :
Discovery of Supernova 2006Au in the galaxy UGC 11057.
Lots of gold (Au) was probably produced.
Discovery date Mar. 7.202 2006. Supernova is at Mag 16.5
