Details:
AR 3615 plus some other details - PST 40 - 8mm eyepiece /50X March 28th 2024 / 14:00 UT - 16:00 UT - Killadoon, Co Mayo, Ireland /pencil and pastel on orange paper. A lovely blue sky day made me go outside to look at Active Region 3615. This region has recently been the source of earthbound impacts as it maneuvered across the solar disc. There was no chance that I could lift the 8-inch dob outside to do a white light drawing, so I took the PST out instead. I decided to try an experimental drawing. 3615 is a massive active region with multiple sunspots and potential action. The solar disc had many exciting filaments. One very long one close to the limb seemed to dip into and around a sunspot below 3615 ( my drawing is not rotated). A small hedgerow-type prom is developing parallel to that filament. At 16:00, an intense brightening occurred within the active region.
