Details:
03.03.24 at around 21:10 hrs UT we were imaging the aurora from our Northern viewpoint near Trisant, Aberystwyth, in Mid Wales when we noticed a separate red area further away from our normal aurora view. We checked each other's cameras and they showed the same red arc, so we knew it wasn't a lens effect. During the observations, I could sometimes make out a faint red area with the naked eye at the ends of the arc. On the 8th of March, my husband Les showed me the SW.com newsletter which had the SAR arc article. This is when we realised we had observed the same here in Mid Wales nr Aberystwyth, not far from our home observatory in the Trawscoed Valley. The What 3 Words location of the viewpoint for reference is burns.upholds.stance Taken on a Canon EOS 100D ISO6400 15s exposure.
