CME strike ~4AM AKST. Pics from Knik, AK. Heard the neighborhood electrical transformers begin to buzz around 3:45AM, then at 4AM the light show began. Lots of reds. Believe it or not, although we are nearing the peak of the solar cycle, it has been abnormally a benine past couple months for lights...does the science indicate this is expected, even with so many powerful sunspots? Or is this just by chance that most of the predicted storms have near missed, or maybe magnetic field stronger, repelling storms?
