Details:
Only for a few days a year does a star rise or set exactly when the Sun - on the other side of the sky - is setting or rising respectively. On those few days it is possible to observe and film the star immersed in the colours of the Venus Belt and the Earth's shadow, if it is bright enough to be seen with the sky still clear. Here, then, is a shot in which SIRIUS - the brightest star in the sky - appears immersed in these shades shortly after sunset, when it was about 8° above the horizon. I had hoped to photograph it a little earlier with even brighter colours, but I didn't make it in time. And by now it's too high in the sky to try again, so it's all postponed until next year.
