Details:
I spent an hour and a half at the Ashokan Reservoir with a multitude of other people. I showed up at 1030pm to a packed parking lot. We were all hunting the aurora. It was a balmy 32 degrees, so I decided to wait an hour and see if anything happened. In the meantime I took a star trails timelapse (248 x15s exposures) at 16mm facing North. A quick edit in Photoshop puts the stars into concentric rings as they fan out from the north star.
