Details:
I first noticed some faint aurora a couple of hours after sunset. A bright display had been forecast, so I kept checking and had the camera ready to hopefully record a timelapse video. Well the aurora did not disappoint as it eventually exploded into an active display that covered the sky from the northern horizon to overhead and beyond. To my eyes the colours were muted and I could detect faint yellow/greens and a bit of red, but I knew that the camera would record much more colour than I could see. The aurora covered so much of the sky that I could only photograph a portion even with a wide angle lens on the camera. I took a few hundred pictures over a two hour period and assembled them into the attached timelapse video. Video compiled from about 500 photos shot with Canon EOS T5i, Rokinon 14mm, f/2.8, 10 sec, ISO 3200
