I am back home after my 2023 Great Lakes Night Sky and Northern Lights Workshop. My group and I had 3 nights out of 4 with clear skies and dancing lights. The Grand Finale was a G-=3 Geomagnetic Storm with a KP index of 7 on our last night there. We were a few miles from the Canadian Border in extreme northern Minnesota anticipating the arrival of a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) from the Sun to spark a geomagnetic storm. With a series of CME's, and other solar wind shocking our planet at the same time it caused some intense aurora's overhead. Auroras could be seen dancing in the sunset before it got dark, and when it got dark the entire sky was covered. Here is 1 photo out of a timelapse looking directly overhead. The Phoenix was out Monday night, September 18th, 2023. Nikon D4 20mm ISO 1250 6 seconds
