Details:
Here is thev tuny sickle of Venus next to the cross and the dome at the top of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Single shots taken in broad daylight only with a Nikon from over 400m away and when the planet was only about 20° above the horizon. About two weeks after the inferior conjunction Venus already has an elongation of more than 20°, is bright enough to be visible to the naked eye if the sky is clear and if you know where to look, and still shows a beautiful, very subtle shape. Through a binoculars 20x its vision was wonderful.
