Details:
Perseid composite from last weekend, August 13th. We were up in the trees on Anderson Mesa for these after evacuating the soaked air down by Lake Mary. Eleven Perseids plus a couple more interlopers and Jupiter had to suffer some illuminated alto cumulus for this view. The shower was decent enough, I figure this could angle have held 5-8 times as many meteors over the course of the night if clouds, dew & fog hadn't shut things down. To hold detail in the clouds, I didn't stack multiple images to smooth noise in the sky & used LR AI noise removal on a single base image instead. The selected base image is the one with the bright meteor, bottom center. Remaining meteors were re-aligned to the star field from their individual exposures and stacked into the image. I try to keep the exposure/brightness for all meteors as close to their original background level as possible. Canon R5 + Canon EF 16-35 mm f/2.8 III USM @ 16 mm. 6 sec, f/2.8, ISO 6400.
