Details:
I tried out a new spectroheliograph today connected to an 80mm f/5 scope stopped down to 70mm. SHG's are the original way h-alpha solar images were recorded 125 years ago. My unit is a Sol'Ex SHG. You construct it from 3-D printed parts and an optics set you can purchase (lenses, diffraction grating, slit). Then, you record an h-alpha line while slewing across the sun. Then you build the solar image from the video using special INTI software. You have to record just the right framerate for the rate you are slewing the scope across the sun to get a round image. Here is my first h-alpha image from it.
