Details:
Here's my favorite of the Perseid meteors that I photographed last night. Not the actual meteor flash, but the trail afterwards. If you look closely, you can see pieces of debris. I never saw the initial meteor flash, but noticed this weird blue-green trail in the sky and took a photo. There was a bit more green visible then is seen on the image. I stayed up until about 2:30 AM. At times, the sky was partly cloudy and there were lightning flashes in the distance. Of course, the best meteors and a couple of fireballs occurred when I was setting up or not in the camera view. Still, a beautiful night and morning of watching meteors with very dark skies. I picked a dark sky location west of Staunton, VA. Nikon D780, 28 MM 13 sec ISO-6400 8/12/2023 10:17 PM.
