On Friday 28th July, Mercury and Regulus formed a close pair in the vicinity of bright Venus with Mars above. This Southern Hemisphere view of the trio with the Leo star Algieba to the right was taken from Mutare at 6.14 pm with a fading volcanic sunset behind Christmas Pass illuminating thin high cloud above Transmitter Hill. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in manual exposure mode (4 secs at F/4.1).
