Details:
These last days the Sun has shown (and is showing) an important activity with the presence of large groups of spots and active regions. Solar activity can also be seen in the night sky. Today's digital cameras can clearly capture the phenomenon of airglow, a direct influence of the Sun. Equipped with a modified reflex camera (full spectrum) and a fisheye lens, I took 8 photographs of 30 s exposure each to cover the entire hemisphere of visible sky. The images were then combined with panoramic software to produce this all-sky view of the summer sky. The sky is crossed by the spectacular band of the summer Milky Way with a greenish sky background, showing elongated band structures, the airglow. The images were obtained from the small village of Sant Llorenç de la Muga, province of Girona (northern Catalonia, Spain), only about 15 km from the French border.
