Details:
I monitor the frequency and field strength of Canada's CHU time station transmitting on the HF bands at 7850 KHz. I was able to detect the Doppler shift of the station's carrier frequency (green plot) during the X-class flare event around 17:00 UTC. The solar flare caused the Ionosphere to bounce, shifting CHU's frequency upward when it moved closer to Earth, and downward when the Ionosphere moved further away from Earth. The total Doppler shift was over 5 Hz, which is a small change, but very obvious! The drop in received signal strength is quite evident too, the blue trace marking the start of the HF blackout which lasted for over 45 minutes.
