Details:
On Sunday 23rd April, the 13% illuminated Waxing Crescent Moon with Cloud Halo in conjunction with Venus was photographed setting behind the summit of Transmitter Hill Mutare in the dark between 7.16 and 7.21 pm. A time-lapse animation was prepared from 63 still images captured with a tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 camera using 1 second exposures taken at f 6.1 and ISO 1600. A considerable amount of post-processing was required, including registering the photographs to remove slight camera movement, adjustment of brightness and contrast to compensate for low light and despeckling to remove background noise.
