This was an unbelievable aurora display taken from the village of St Masmes near Reims. It is so rare to have such a show at this low latitude in France !
I will always remember when the photos began to turn dark pink on my screen, and then started to become slitghtly visible to the naked eye, gliding among the stars of Cassiopea.
After a heavy rain shower around 23:00, the skies became clearer and allowed me to see the Moon and Venus first (on the left, out of the field of view), and then the auroras started to glow around midnight, for more than 45 minutes, before slowly fading behind the northern horizon.
A big thanks to my friends Geoffroy Prevost who sent us the alert around 22:00, and Benjamin Poupard who helped to process the images.
These were my first auroras, and hopefully not the last !
